Muzej (Museum of the Town of Budva)

The museum activities in Budva started in 1962 with materials discovered by excavations between 1957 and 1958.
Valuable foundlings were discovered after the earthquake in 1979. From the Budva necropolises approximately 4.000 findings were discovered and in that time the idea of designing a museum occurred.
Region’s unique climate like the Mediterranean climate and Illyria, Rome, Byzantine Slavs and other cultures living together in the region have brought together important factors in the formation of a museum in the city in both archaeological and cultural terms.
The archaeological collection consists of objects discovered in excavations from 5th century to the middle ages and in Budva (Hellenistic gold, various vases, jewels, ornaments, tools, silverwares, glass wares, clay, silver wares)
Ethnographic collection comprises items from 18th century to the beginning of the 20th century. The archaeological collection consists of about 1200 objects and ethnographic collection consists of about 450 objects.
